Christophe’s studios in Sydney and the Sunshine Coast are set within tranquil bushland and hinterland environments, the studios provide the freedom to create without restriction — embracing the noise, dust and mess inherent to the sculptural process. Here, ideas evolve organically from initial sketches and small-scale models into carefully considered forms, before being transformed through intricate hand carving and polishing.

Surrounded by the colours, textures and organic forms of Australia, the landscape, flora and fauna are a constant source of inspiration — from warm ochres, sands and earthy tones to the natural forms found throughout Australia’s coastline and bushland.

For Christophe, this connection to the Australian landscape is fundamental to his practice. His contemporary sculptures are deeply influenced by the natural world and the unique forms, textures and colours found within it.
