    The Commissioning Process

Commissioning a Sculpture with Christophe Conder: A Step-by-Step Guide

    1. Initial Consultation

Begin by reaching out via email, phone, or an online form to share your ideas, vision, and any reference images. Christophe will discuss your goals, timeline, preferred style, and the intended location for the sculpture. If possible, an on-site visit will be arranged to assess the space, or alternatively, photographs of the site can be provided. This step helps define the project’s scope and establishes a creative direction.

    2. Concept Development

Based on the consultation, Christophe will create initial design concepts, including sketches, clay maquettes, or digital representations. These ideas will be reviewed and refined in collaboration with you to ensure the design aligns with your vision and space requirements.

    3. Material Selection & Budgeting

Christophe will recommend suitable materials based on your aesthetic preferences and practical considerations (e.g., indoor vs. outdoor display). Whether working with stainless steel, bronze, or sandstone, all materials are of the highest quality, often verified by a structural engineer. A detailed cost estimate will be provided, covering material expenses, labor, shipping, and installation. A 50% deposit is required to begin the project.

    4. Formal Quotation & Timeline

A formal quotation outlining the project scope, payment terms, and schedule will be arranged including a timeline with key milestones will be established, with process ranging from six weeks to four months depending on the medium and complexity of the sculpture.

    5. Creation & Craftsmanship

Once the agreement is in place, work begins in Christophe’s studio. Every sculpture is handcrafted, combining traditional sculpting techniques with modern technology, such as lost-wax casting, 3D scanning, and digital modeling. Progressive photographs and updates will be shared throughout the process, allowing for minor adjustments if needed.

    6. Finishing & Authentication

The final stages include inspecting all sandstone and metalwork and applying the desired patina or finish if metal is used, and for sandstone a protective sealant is applied. Each piece is authenticated with an engraved reference number, signature, and an official certification mark. Photographs of the completed piece will be shared for final approval before delivery.

    7. Delivery & Installation

Sculptures are securely packed in custom wooden crates for safe transport. Shipping is arranged via reputable couriers, with delivery costs outlined in the initial quote. For large-scale or complex installations, professional installers can be coordinated. Alternatively, sculptures can be made available for collection if preferred.

    8. Aftercare & Ongoing Support

Christophe provides maintenance guidelines to help preserve your sculpture’s integrity and appearance over time. Should you require cleaning, repairs, or relocation assistance, ongoing support is available.
